Trent:

Canon 1.If anyone says that man can be justified before God by his own works, whether done by his own natural powers or through the teaching of the law,[110] without divine grace through Jesus Christ, let him be anathema.

You know, there have been so many incorrect statements made by Protestants about what the Catholic Church teaches that it is almost impossible to straighten out at this point in time. If Protestants would only read what the Church says and not just what Protestants say the Church teaches, that would help. 

Is that too much to ask? I don’t think that it is. No, it doesn’t mean that a person will then automatically want to join the Catholic Church, but it might clear up some misunderstandings.
